$5.2 MILLION PURCHASE TOPS F-T NOVEMBER AUCTION
24 horses sold for $1 Million or more at the Fasig-Tipton November Sale Monday night, including four-year-old mare Betterbetterbetter (IRE), who sold to Mandy Pope’s Whisper Hill Farm for $5.2 Million. Consigned by Hill ‘n’ Dale Farm, Betterbetterbetter, in foal to War Front, was one of 24 horses that hit the seven-figure mark last night. Other big names included duel Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint winner Mizdirection, who sold for $2.7 Million; A.P. Indy mare Love and Pride (in foal to Distorted Humor), who sold $4.9 Million and Grade 1 winner Champagne d’Oro (In foal to Tapit), who also sold for $2.7 Million.
KENTUCKY DERBY WINNER ORB RETIRED TO STUD AT CLAIBORNE FARM

After a huge year, Stuart S. Janney III and Ogden Phipps’ homebred Orb, winner of the Fountain of Youth (G2), Florida Derby (G1) and Kentucky Derby (G1) will be retired to stud where he was raised at historic Claiborne Farm in Paris, KY. Orb joins Grade 1-winner Data Link, also owned by Janney, as the second new stallion for 2014 at Claiborne. Orb’s stud fee has been set at $25,000.
KEENELAND NOVEMBER BREEDING STOCK BEGINS TUESDAY AT 10AM
1,739 broodmares, 1,364 weanlings, 481 horses of racing age, 10 yearlings and 8 stallions will be offered Tuesday, November 5 through Thursday, November 14. Perhaps the most anticipated broodmare prospect to be offered at Keeneland is back-to-back Breeders’ Cup Filly/Mare Sprint winner Groupie Doll, who is to be offered by Tom Evans’ Trackside Farm as hip number 350 selling on Wednesday, November 6.
