What a day. I had an awesome time at Breeders’ Cup Friday with perfect weather at Santa Anita Park. My picks from yesterday may have not been great, but having fun at an event like this is definitely the most important part. If yesterday taught me anything it’s that Santa Anita’s dirt was extremely speed-favoring. On to some links highlighting yesterday’s races:
- BEHOLDER WINS BC DISTAFF, ENDS ROYAL DELTA’S REIGN
- GOLDENCENTS GOES WIRE-TO-WIRE TO WIN DIRT MILE
- JUVENILE TURF: OUTSTRIP WINS AS MIKE SMITH WINS SECOND
- CHRISELLIAM TAKES JUVENILE FILLIES TURF
- LONDON BRIDGE TAKES MARATHON AS 1ST NY BRED BC WINNER

ON A SIDE NOTE: On our first ABRV Tour racing trip this March, the powers that be invited a blogger from Deadspin named Jeb Lund to cover our first actual racing visit. He just posted the article to the website, and here is the link: CAN DIRTBAGS, PRETTY LADIES, AND TWITTER SAVE HORSE RACING? The article was quite negative overall, but not necessarily in a hostile or tactical way. Jeb was honest, and we have to respect that. Regardless of the article’s tone, it still got people talking about us. There is no doubt we have come a long way from the last weekend in March to where we are now, so I like to think ole Jeb would have a few more positives to outline were he to come see us in action today. He did have one quote about me that I wanted to address:
He’s referring to a party we co-sponsored at the Clevelander hotel in South Beach, when I got on stage and tried to encourage people to come check out the Florida Derby the next day. I got the vibe he was saying I wasn’t really cool looking at all, but I beg to differ. I have a picture from that very event that I used as my profile picture for a long time:
Why don’t you say it to my face Jeb? I look cool as f***
